Before his retirement in 2006, Keith was Head of Deptford Green School, a mixed comprehensive in South East London.
Under his leadership the school gained a national reputation for its work in citizenship education. He received an OBE for services to education in 1996 and was knighted in 2007. Keith has worked as a government adviser and was the lead writer of the curriculum report ‘Diversity and Citizenship’.
Sir Keith Ajegbo that the DfES commissioned in to review the of Britain's history recommended by Ajegbo for inclusion within the citizenship.
He is currently a trustee of APIE (a charity working in education in Rwanda) and a trustee of the Wimbledon Foundation. He is also an honorary fellow of Goldsmiths University, an Hon DEd De Montfort University and an Hon. DLit(Ed) London University.
